F. M. ALEXANDER DIED LAST FRIDAY

Long-Time Macksburg and Winterset Resident Was 84 Years Old

F. M. Alexander, one of Madison county's oldest residents, died last Friday at his home in Winterset after several months of failing health. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Alexander was a native of Missouri, where he was born July 7, 1860. When he was 19 years old he came to Madison county, which had since been his home. He lived in Macksburg until 1941, and then moved to Winterset. In recent years he had been engaged in the welding trade here.

He was married to Permelia Kingery on Dec. 26, 1886. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Gladys Stewart of Macksburg and Mrs. Olive Brown of Ames; one grandson; and two brothers, John Alexander of Texas and Grant J. Alexander of Delta, Colo. One grandson, Pvt. Billy J. Stewart of Macksburg, was killed in action in France on July 12.

Funeral services were held Sunday from Anderson's Funeral home, in charge of the Revs. Arthur Weede and L. F. Davis. Burial was made in the Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
