GEORGE GOODWIN DIED WEDNESDAY

72-Year-Old Resident Had Been in Failing Health Several Years

George W. Goodwin, a well known farmer living northeast of Winterset, died at his home Wednesday of last week after a long illness. He was 72 years of age.

Goodwin was a native of Missouri, where he was born in Gentry county, Jan. 5, 1874. His early life was spent in the vicinity of Stanberry, Mo. As a young man he worked on the railroad, and for a construction company.

He was married April 2, 1907, to Fannie Jelinek. They were the parents of nine children. After his marriage he engaged in farming, which he continued until his retirement three years ago.

He is survived by his wife; five sons, Loren Goodwin of Earlham, John Goodwin of Humeston, Lawson Goodwin of Osceola, and Fred and Vernon Goodwin of Winterset; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Driskill of Afton, Fern Goodwin of Winterset, and Deleath Goodwin of Des Moines. He also leaves nine grandchildren and five brothers.

Funeral services were held here Friday from Anderson's home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines. Burial was made in the Mt. Pelier cemetery near Patterson.
