J. G. SCHOENENBERGER DIED LAST THURSDAY

Winterset Veterinarian More Than 40 Years, Was Widely Known

Dr. J. G. Schoenenberger, a practicing veterinarian in this community for more than 40 years, died last Thursday at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. He was 60 years of age, and had been in failing health for several years.

Doctor Schoenenberger was a life-time resident and one of the most widely known men in this community.

He was born in Walnut township on Aug. 27, 1885, the son of John and Lavina Schoenenberger. He was educated in the schools of Madison county and at Iowa State college in Ames, where he graduated in veterinary medicine with the class of 1911. Since that time he had practiced his profession in this community until his health failed.

He was married June 3, 1914, to Hazel Wheeler, of Des Moines. They were the parents of one son, John Phillip.

On Dec. 31, 1920, he was married to Rella Breeding Storck, who survives him. He also leaves seven children, John Phillip, Nicholas, James, Mrs. Fannie Ann Chervinka, Saul, Chester and Fern, and a step-daughter, Mrs. Helen M. Dyer of Casper, Wyo. An infant son, Frank, preceded him in death.

He was one of a family of five children, all of whom have died except one brother, Iver Schoenenberger of Peru.

Funeral services were held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home last Saturday, in charge of the Rev. G. L. Hufstader, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
