CHARLES MCFARLIN OF DEXTER DIED SEPT. 25

Charles McFarlin, who lived for many years in Madison county south of Dexter, died at his home in Dexter, Sept. 25. He was 81 years of age.

Mr. McFarlin was born at Bryant, in Clinton county, on Jan. 7, 1864, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Y. McFarlin. At the age of 15 years he moved with his parents from Clinton county to Greene county in a covered wagon.

He later returned to Clinton county where he was married Nov. 13, 1889, to Mary Jane Johnson. They farmed in Clinton county until 1902, when they moved to a farm south of Dexter. In 1916 they moved into Dexter for a time, then returned to their farm, and in 1925 again moved to Dexter where the remainder of Mr. McFarlin's life was spent.

Mr. McFarlin is survived by his wife; six children, Mrs. Merretta Lowden of Winterset, Mrs. Nina Algreen of Dexter, Mrs. Alyce Butler of Colfax, Lloyd McFarlin of Winterset, Mrs. Vianna Stabler of Seattle, Wash., and Harold McFarlin of Dexter. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Cora Dickey of Des Moines and Mrs. Mayme Hughs of Dana.

Mr. and Mrs. McFarlin celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary at their home in Dexter on Nov. 13, 1939.

Funeral services were held Sept. 27 from the Dexter Methodist church, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. J. Neal Clemmer. Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.
