Death of Mrs. Bridget McElroy

Mrs. Bridget Rafferty McElroy, widow of William McElroy, died at her home in Winterset on Monday after a brief illness, nearly 75 years of age.

She was a native of old Ireland, her birthplace being in Monaghan county. Crossing the ocean to America, the family settled in New York over fifty years ago, then came west to Illinois, where she was married in 1870.

After ten years Mr. and Mrs. McElroy came further west, settling in Adair county, where they lived on one farm for twenty seven years. Then the family again moved, this time to Monroe township in Madison county, living near Lorimor until their removal to Winterset five years ago.

The only member of the family now living are Miss Rosa and her brother Frank, both of Winterset, who have so long and faithfully cared for their devoted mother.

Funeral services were conducted in St. Joseph's church by Rev. J. C. White on Tuesday morning, followed by burial in the Winterset cemetery.
