Ted W. McDowell, Lorimor

Teddy Wayne McDowell, 65, of Lorimor died of a respiratory ailment Dec. 5, 1998, at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Jon Gaul officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.

Ted McDowell was born Dec. 18, 1932 in Winterset to Jess "Bud" and Dorothy (Beem) McDowell. He married Audrey Kirk on Aug. 24, 1955, in Clarke County. A self-employed heavy equipment operator, he was a lifetime resident of the Winterset and Lormor areas. Ted, a veteran of the Korean conflict, was a member of Masonic Lodge 558 and American Legion Post 184.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Bryan McDowell of Peru, Kelly McDowell (wife Jenny) of Eddyville and Shawn McDowell (wife Debbie) of Osceola; one daughter, Linda Simonsen (husband Dana) of Des Moines; one brother, Terry McDowell of Afton; and nine grandchildren.
