MARY MCDOWELL DIED THURSDAY

Resident of Winterset Past Eight Years Was 87 Years of Age

Mrs. Mary F. McDowell of Winterset died at a nursing home here last Thursday, April 20, at the age of 87 years.

Mrs. McDowell had been a resident of this community the last eight years. She was the former May Florence Ash, daughter of Thomas and Delilah Meeks Ash, and was born at Richland, Ind., November 4, 1879. She was married at Evansdale, Ind., on Sept. 12, 1900 to Clinton D. McDowell. He preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Alvin Jackson of Winterset; Mrs. Margaret Fillingame of Jackson, Miss., and J. T. McDowell of Lorimor. A daughter, Mrs. Mary J. Morgan preceded her in death also.

She also leaves seven grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday from Collins Funeral home, in charge of Elder Ernest Lundin of Knoxville, assisted by Elder H. L. Heifner of Perry. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
