Wayne McDonald, Winterset

Wayne McDonald, 82, of Winterset died of congestive heart failure Feb. 16, 2003, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday Feb. 19) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset, with Pastors Scott O'Conner and Bob Epperson officiating. Burial was at McDonald-Chase Cemetery, Douglas Township, Madison County.

Wayne McDonald was born Oct. 13, 1920 in Madison County (Douglas Township) to William Wallace and Gladys Mae (Clark) McDonald. On Sept. 9, 1944, he married Viola M. Lamphiear in Council Bluffs. A lifelong area resident Wayne had been a farmer and logger. He was a member of Evening Star Masonic Lodge 43 of Winterset and McDonald-Chase Cemetery Association (past president).

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Harold "Whitey" McDonald, Leonard McDonald and Melvin McDonald.

He is survived by his wife, Viola of Winterset; seven sons, Jerry McDonald of St. Charles, Ronnie McDonald, Bill McDonald, David McDonald, Jeff McDonald and John McDonald, all of Winterset and Steve McDonald of Lorimor; two daughters, Jane Dawson of Winterset and Amy Sexton of Naperville, Ill.; two sisters, Zola Haigh of Des Moines and Barbara Corkrean of Winterset; three brothers, Scott McDonald, Paul McDonald and Jim McDonald, all of Winterset; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the McDonald-Chase Cemetery Association.
