Well Known Farmer Died Monday at Age of 68 Years
Nels Anderson, well known Madison county farmer, died at his home near Bevington, Monday, March 2nd. Mr. Anderson, who was 68 years of age, had been ill for the past six weeks. He had an operation for a malignant growth, and was in a Des Moines hospital for over three weeks, but he was later taken to his home where he succumbed late Monday evening.
Mr. Anderson and his family located on a farm near Truro in 1918, and this county had since been his home. In 1938 they moved to the Cox farm in Union township and lived there until last March, when they moved to their present home, on what is known as the Kelleher farm.
The deceased was born in Denmark, the son of Simon and Catherine Anderson, May 17, 1873. He came to the United States in 1889 and settled near Elkhorn in Shelby county. In 1898 he was married to Miss Annie Olson who died three years later. On July 18, 1903, he was married to Miss Thor Sofie Christensen and they lived on farms in Shelby and Audubon counties, until 1918 when they came to this county.
He is survived by his wife, and their five children; Mrs. Anna Taylor and Magnus Anderson of Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Clara Brittain and Mrs. Elna Fitzgerald of Winterset, and Theodore at home. He also leaves two sisters, and two brothers: Mrs. Stena Christensen of Atlantic, Mrs. Anna Nelson of Elkhorn, Jens Anderson of Mankato and Anton Anderson of Dell Rapids, South Dakota.
Funeral services for Mr. Anderson will be held at Kale's funeral home in Truro, March 5th, at 2 o'clock and burial will be made in the St. Charles cemetery.
