JOSEPH G. YOUNG PASSED SATURDAY

Winterset Resident Since 1902 Dies at Age of 78 Years

Joseph G. Young, a resident of Winterset since 1902, died at his home here Saturday at the age of 78 years.

Mr. Young was reared in Illinois and went to Kansas at the age of 21 years. There he was married to Dora Anderson of Mayfield, Kan., on Feb. 23, 1888. They lived in Kansas until 1902, coming to Iowa which had since been their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Young were the parents of one son, Claude Melvin, who died in October of last year.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife; and four sisters, who live in Illinois.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home here, in charge of the Rev. Charles E. Courtney, pastor of the United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

JOSEPH YOUNG DIES AT AGE 78

Funeral Service Was Held Monday For Long Time Resident of County

Joseph G. Young, 78 years of age, died at his home in Winterset, Saturday afternoon following an extended period of ill health.

Joseph Grant Young was the son of William and Nancy Young, and was born August 27, 1863. He died at the age of 78 years, eight months and nine days.

He spent his boyhood in Illinois and went to Kansas at the age of 21 years where he married Dora Anderson at Mayfield, Kansas, February 23, 1888. They lived in Kansas until 1902 when they came to Iowa where they spent their married life. Born to this union was one son, Claude Melvin, who preceded his father in death in October 1941.

Surviving relatives besides his widow, R4 sisters who reside in Illinois, one brother, John, and one sister, Clara, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ramsey–Richards Funeral Home on Monday by the Rev. Charles E. Courtney, pastor of the local United Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
