MRS. VIOLA BEEM DIES

Succumbs at Hospital Here Following Illness of Three Weeks

Mrs. Viola Beem, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Monday at the Winterset hospital, following a severe illness of three weeks. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Beem was the former Mary Viola Hircock, daughter of William and Mary Hircock, and was born on a farm south of Winterset on Nov. 25, 1867. In 1889 she was married to John W. Beem. They were the parents of seven children, six daughters and one son.

Mr. Beem died in 1938; and the son, Percy Beem, died in 1922.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Bertha Clopton of Winterset, Mrs. Eunice Warren of Peru, Mrs. Mary Alexander of Des Moines, Mrs. Lorraine Jamison, Mrs. Lenore Ford and Mrs. Dorothy McDowell, all of Winterset. She also leaves a half sister, Mrs. Flora Kennedy, and three half-brothers, Willie, Charles and Fred Hircock; 11 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
