Harry McDonald Dies At 72 Years

Jefferson Township Native Had Farmed in Adair and Madison County

Harry McDonald, a resident of Madison county for the last 10 years, died last Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, following a stroke. He was 72 years of age. Mr. McDonald became ill on Tuesday and was taken to the hospital, where he died the next afternoon.

Mr. McDonald was born in Jefferson township on Aug. 26, 1888, a son of Siras and Mary McDonald. He moved to Adair county and engaged in farming there from 1935 until 1950, when he returned to Madison county and farmed near Pitzer. He moved into Winterset in 1957.

He was married June 1, 1908 to Frances L. Eggleston, who survives him. He also leaves two sons, Albert C. McDonald of Dexter and Clyde L. McDonald of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Lois Jeske of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He also leaves a brother, Joseph McDonald of Artesia, Colo., and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Reed of Summerfield, Kansas.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
