GEORGE MCDONALD DIES IN OREGON

Former Madison County Man Had Lived Many Years on West Coast

George C. McDonald, a former resident of Madison county died Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Portland, Oregon. He was 71 years of age.

Mr. McDonald was born in Jefferson township March 9, 1881, a son of Crosby and Amanda McDonald. He spent his early life in that community, and was married to Sylvia Faye Jones of Earlham.

After spending a year at Salem, Ore., they returned to Iowa, farming in Madison county, and near Stuart, until 1917, when they moved to Montana. After six years there, they moved to Portland, Ore. where they lived until his death.

Mr. McDonald worked at the building trade as long as his health permitted. In 1930, he was elected a ruling elder in the Laurelhurst United Presbyerian church, serving until 8 years ago, when he was named elder emeritus.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Walter, Lloyd and George J.; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Willialm McDonald of Winterset and J. Henderson McDonald of Salem, Oregon; and five sisters, Mrs. Nancy Bowers of Omaha, Mrs. Johanna Ogden of Los Angeles; and Mrs. Lutie Bruett, Mrs. Viola Wolverton and Mrs. Mary Binns, all of Winterset.

Funeral services and burial were held at Portland.
