Heart Attack Claims Motorist

Clyde L. McDonald, 66, died last Wednesday, Oct. 19, in Winterset following a heart attack while driving a pickup truck on West Green Street near his home.

An accident involving the McDonald vehicle and a parked car was reported as he apparently lost consciousness while in motion. Efforts were made at the scene to revive McDonald and he was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.

Clyde McDonald was born May 23, 1911, in Winterset, the son of Robert and Frances Eggleston Harrison. His recent residence in Madison County extended over six years. He was a retired railroad car inspector from Des Moines.

Mr. McDonald was married on December 23, 1939 to Velma A. McCall in Waterloo, Iowa. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church, a trustee of the Brotherhood of Railway Car Men-Lodge 301, a member of Masonic East Gate Lodge 630 and a Winterset school bus driver.

Survivors include his wife, Velma; two sons, Gaylen C. McDonald of Troy, Michigan and Lew H. McDonald of Des Moines; six grandchildren; one brother, Albert C. McDonald of Adel and a sister, Lois Jeske of Cleveland, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Funeral services for Mr. McDonald were conducted Saturday, Oct. 22, at 10 a.m. from Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Byron Ayers officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
