MRS. J. F. ARMSTRONG DIED ON THURSDAY

Long-Time Resident Here Succumbs at Age of 89 Years

Mrs. James F. Armstrong, long-time resident of this county, died last Thursday, May 15th at the age of 89 years, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Brown. Sylvia Catherine Armstrong was born in Thorntown, Ind., May 8, 1852, the daughter of John and Rachel Bellis.

On April 29, 1869 she was married to James F. Armstrong and they were the parents of eleven children. The husband and seven of their children have preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, John Armstrong of Topeka, Kan., and James Armstrong of Des Moines; and two daughters, Miss Mary Armstrong of Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs. Brown of Winterset. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Armstrong joined the Methodist church when a girl and remained a member until her death.

The Rev. W. A. Samp conducted her funeral services at the Anderson home for funerals Sunday afternoon, and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
