CHARLES ROBINSON PASSED SATURDAY

Prominent Farmer Had Come by Immigrant Train to This County

Charles J. Robinson, a substantial Madison county farmer and long-time resident of the county, died last Saturday at his farm home in Scott township. He was 79 years of age.

Mr. Robinson was born Oct. 19, 1861, in Washington county, Virginia, the son of David and Temperence Robinson. In 1868 he came to Iowa with his parents, traveling in an immigrant caravan. They settled in Scott township near the home where his death occurred.

Mr. Robinson was left an orphan at an early age, and made his home with his sister, Mrs. Nancy McConlee, until his marriage on April 19, 1883, to Ida Foster. They were the parents of three children.

Mr. Robinson had united with the Seventh Day Adventist church in 1893.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Ray Robinson; one daughter, Mrs. Myra Black; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The other son, Ross Robinson, died last year.

Funeral services were held Monday from his home, conducted by Pastor Glen Tillman of Davenport, a relative of the family. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
