C. W. FOGERTY DIED HERE ON MONDAY

Services Held Wednesday From St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winterset

C. W. Fogerty, a resident of near Winterset for the past three years, died Monday at his home located two miles north of town. He was 74 years of age.

Mr. Fogerty was a native of Canada, where he was born on Nov. 1, 1866. When he was a year old, he came with his parents to Illinois. As a young man he moved to Iowa, settling at Fonda, where he was married and spent most of his life, engaged largely in farming, the operation of an elevator, and other enterprises.

His immediate surviving relatives are his wife; and one son, George Fogerty, of Huntington, W. Va.

Funeral services were to be held Wednesday with requiem Mass at St. Joseph's Catholic church here, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. W. Hahessy. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.

MORTUARY

Charles William Fogarty was born in Canada, Nov. 5, 1866, and died at Winterset, Iowa, May 12, 1941.

When he was a year old he came with his parents to Illinois. As a young man he moved to Greene county, Iowa, where he was married to Mary A. Conry in 1899. To this union were born two sons, one dying in infancy, and George P. Fogarty of Huntington, West Virginia.

After residing near Paton, Greene county, Iowa, for nine years, they moved to Carroll county, Iowa, then to Pocahontas, Adair, and Madison counties.

His life’s work was farming, buying farms, improving them and selling them. He was a good son and brother, helping his mother after his father’s death to care for the younger brothers and sister. He was a good and kind husband and father, and a good neighbor to everyone he met.

Funeral services were conducted from St. Joseph’s church in Winterset, the Rev. Father Hahessy saying the Requiem Mass.

Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery. Pallbearers were Edward Melroy, Earnest McNamara, Robert Campbell, Howard Hammans, Louie Diers, and George Bailey.

Mr. Fogarty was a member of the Catholic church, and throughout his life was a sincere and devoted member.
