FRED CASSIDAY TAKES OWN LIFE AT ANAMOSA

Fred Cassiday, formerly a well-known Winterset resident, shot himself to death last Saturday at the state park near Anamosa.

Except for his service in the regular army, Cassiday spent all his life in this community, until about eight years ago when he went to Ft. Madison to take a job as a prison guard. He was later transferred to Anamosa.

He was the son of the late Pete Cassiday, long-time justice of the peace in Winterset. He is survived by his wife and one son, Jack Cassiday.

Funeral services were held at Anamosa, and the body was brought to Winterset this Tuesday afternoon for burial in the local cemetery. Short services were held at the cemetery here in charge of the American Legion.
