Young Monroe Township Farmer Hangs Self in Corn Crib
Vernon Brown, young Monroe township farmer, committed suicide last Friday by hanging himself in a corn crib. He was 30 years of age, and unmarried.
Brown had operated a farm in Monroe township for the past four years for W. P. Harding of Shenandoah. He had been subject to periods of despondency for some time, it was reported to the coroner.
Brown's body was found by Elmer Libby, who lives on the Harding farm.
The young man was not married. His mother is his nearest surviving relative.

The community was shocked and saddened by the death of Vern Brown Friday evening. Mr. Brown had been in poor health for some time and had taken his own life. Elmer Libby who works for him found him hanging in the corn crib.
Short funeral services were held for him Saturday evening and the body was taken to his old home in Missouri for burial.
His mother, who made her home with him, survives, also several sisters in Missouri.

Vern Brown, a resident north of Lorimor who lives on the Dess Harding farm for several years, died Friday from suicide by hanging. He was 29 years old and had been in ill health.
The funeral was held Saturday at the Watts funeral home in the body was taken to Bethany, Mo., for services and burial Sunday.
