BEN S. TAYLOR SUICIDE VICTIM

Shoots Self at His Farm Home in Jefferson Township

B. S. Taylor, a well known resident of Jefferson township, shot himself fatally at his farm home on Wednesday of last week.

Mr. Taylor was found last Thursday by Sheriff A. E. Null and A. A. Richards, Winterset mortician. Richards had received a letter that day, written by Taylor before he took his life. The letter contained instructions as to where the body would be found.

Mr. Taylor was 71 years of age, and had been a resident of Madison county about 50 years. He was born on Feb. 16, 1871, near Webster City, the son of Lorie and Mary Taylor. He came to this county as a young man, and spent his years as a farmer here.

He was married to Alzina Davis on Feb. 10, 1897. They were the parents of two children, both of whom survive. Mrs. Taylor died in 1938.

Mr. Taylor was a member of the North River U. B. church for 30 years.

He is survived by one son, Clifton Taylor of Earlham; a daughter, Mrs. Pearl Hartfield of Bevington; two grandchildren; one brother, Walter Taylor of Sheridan, Mo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Clark of Sheridan, Mo., and Mrs. May Fremeyer of St. Francis, Kan.

Funeral services were held Sunday from Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. E. A. Elliott of Des Moines, assisted by the Rev. David Thomas. Burial was made in the McDonald cemetery.
