Formerly Lived in Lorimor and Worthington Communities
Mrs. W. H. Hall, well known in both the Lorimor and Worthington communities, died at her home in Earlham last Saturday after six months of failing health. She was 57 years of age.
Mrs. Hall was the former Sophia Mallett, daughter of Albert and Clementina Mallett, and was born at Halmore, Gloucestershire, England, on May 17, 1883. She came with her parents to this country in 1908. The family settled at Mt. Vernon, S. Dak., but moved to Lorimor in this state the same year.
At Lorimor, she was employed by the Bell Telephone company for 15 years.
On April 20, 1926, she was married to Walter H. Hall of Earlham. They lived for many years on a farm in the Worthington neighborhood.
In young womanhood she was confirmed in the Church of England. At Lorimor, she united with the Baptist church, and later transferred her membership to the Worthington church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid there, and of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her husband; two brothers, George A. Mallett of Chesterfield, England, and Albert H. Mallett of Lorimor; and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Berry and Mrs. Minnie Lord, both of Lorimor.
Funeral services were held Monday from the Worthington church, in charge of the Rev. Reed Kessler, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Crouse. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Mrs. W. H. Hall, a well known resident of the Worthington community, died at her home last Saturday. She had been in failing health for some time. She would have been 58 years old May 17.
Mrs. Hall was born in England. She came to this country with her parents in 1908. The family first moved to South Dakota and later to Lorimor. She was employed by the Bell telephone company at Lorimor for 15 years.
In 1926 she was married to W. H. Hall. They have lived in the Worthington community since that time. A complete obituary follows.
Sophia Mallett, second daughter of the late Albert and Clementina Mallett, was born at Halmore, Berkeley, Gloucestershire, England, May 17, 1883, and departed this life April 26, 1941, at her home near Earlham, Iowa, at the age of 57 years, 11 months and nine days.
The deceased accompanied by her parents and youngest sister Minnie, sailed from England to this country March 4, 1908, settled at Mount Vernon, South Dakota, and the same year moved to Lorimor, Iowa. She was associated with the Bell Telephone Company for 15 years while residing in Lorimor.
On April 20, 1926, she was united in marriage to Walter H. Hall of Earlham, Iowa, and moved to his farm north of Worthington church near Earlham. Her duties as homemaker were faithfully filled until ill health besieged her in September of last year. Since that time she has been a great sufferer of the most dreaded malady for which the Divine Physician gave permanent relief.
In young womanhood she was confirmed in the Church of England. At Lorimor she united with the Baptist Church in all departments and maintained the work of her senior relatives who were charter members. Later she transferred her membership to the Worthington church. She was an ardent worker in the Ladies Aid of Worthington church, also, a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She is survived by her husband, W. H. Hall; two brothers, George A. Mallett of Chesterfield, England, and Albert H. of Lorimor, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Berry and Mrs. Minnie Lord, both of Lorimor; eight nephews, six nieces and a number of cousins. Her father and mother preceded her in death, March 4, 1923 and June 14, 1928, respectively.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at Worthington church, conducted by Rev. Kessler, assisted by Rev. Crouse, pastor. Interment was made in the Earlham cemetery.
