John Cairns

John Arthur Cairns, 14 year old, son of Mr. And Mrs. Al Cairns, lost his life in a swimming pool accident at Adel last Wednesday afternoon.

He was swimming with friends who had not realized he was missing until he was found on the bottom of the pool. Lifeguards administered artificial respiration, but could not revive him.

John attended Earlham school and would have been a freshman next fall.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 8, at the Bear Creek Friends church. Rev. Ernest Baiotto was in charge.

Berneice Hadley was pianist and Berneita Patience was soloist, Maude Applegate, Marie Cook and Wilma Applegate were in charge of floral arrangements.

Casket bearers were: Robert Stanley, Ralph Stanley, Harmon College, Ray Stewart, Alfred Smith and Lloyd Crabbs.

Burial was in bear creek cemetery.
