In early childhood he moved with his parents to Iowa locating near Stuart. It was there he grew to manhood.

Eight children were born to this union Myrtle Nellis and Chloe Dunlap of Earlham, Iowa; Nell Giles and Clarence Jones of Seattle, Washington; Ivan Jones of Anaconda, Montana; and Hazel Nichols of Shannon City, Iowa, all of whom remain to mourn his passing. Wilma Osmond and Zola Jones together with the wife, preceeded (preceded) him in death several years ago.

For several years he was a hardware merchant in Earlham. In 1908 he moved to Shannon City, Iowa, five years later moving to Montana, where he was living at the time of his death.

He was a loving, tender father. After the passing of the daughter Wilma, he did his best to take the place of a mother to her children, living in the home and caring for them.

For some time he had been in poor health and on November 11, 1937 at the age of 79 years, three months, and 22 days he made his crossing from here to the beyond.

Besides the six children he is survived by eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four sisters; Mrs. Villa Chambers, of Greenfield, Iowa; Mrs. Ella Pease of San Francisco, California; Mrs. Alma Cullen of Stuart, Iowa; Mrs. Gertrude Hill of Des Moines, Iowa; two brothers, Milton and John of Stuart, and a host of other relatives and friends.
