Eliza A. Thayer was born near Troy, New York, July 20, 1853, and departed this life October 7, 1907, aged 54 years, two months and 17 days.
When a small child she moved with her parents from New York to Walworth county, Wis., where she grew to young womanhood.
From Wisconsin she came with her parents to Clayton county, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to Zenus Buttolph. Two daughters were born to this union, both of whom are living. Besides her two daughters she leaves to mourn her loss the devoted husband, three grandchildren, four brothers and one sister.
She joined the M. E. church of Hardin, Iowa, about thirty years ago, and she was a faithful attendant and worker to the end.
Funeral services were held at her late home Tuesday morning, conducted by Rev. Harvey. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery.
