October 1928Fred Jackson Bunnell, son of Mr. And Mrs. R. E. Bunnell was born in Castleton, Stark County, Ill., August 13, 1880.
He moved with his parents to Kearney, Nebr., in 1892 where they resided until they came to Madison County in 1900. They lived on a farm south of Van Meter until his marriage October 17, 1906 to Ethel A. Minteer, of Van Meter.
They resided near DeSoto until 1913 when they moved to their present home west of Earlham.
He has been active in every movement, which seemed to be for the betterment of his community. He was always ready to assist his friends and neighbors if it lay in his power to do so.
He has always held a deep reverence for God and his life has always been an exemplification of the ideals and training of his Mother.

A beautiful hint, “He’ll hear!”
A beautiful tear symathic,
A beautiful healing of strife,
A beautiful touch of a brother-
The result was a beautiful life!He leaves to mourn his wife Ethel and children, Pauline, Lucile and Mason. Also, his mother, Mrs. M. H. Bunnell, his brother John C. Bunnell, other relatives and a large circle of friends and neighbors.

Van Meter, October 10. Special---Fred J. Bunnell, of Earlham, died early Sunday morning at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines, following an operation Friday for goiter. The Bunnell family were formerly residents of this vicinity, living five or six miles southwest of Van Meter. For the last fifteen years they have lived near Earlham. Mr. Bunnell was 48 years old.
He is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Ethel Minteer, two daughters, Pauline and Lucille, one son, Mason, his mother, Mrs. M. J. Bunnell, and one brother, John, all of Earlham.
The funeral was held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Earlham, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock, with the burial in the Earlham cemetery.
