Earlham Library Obituaries, October 1928
Earlham, Iowa

Fred Jackson Bunnell, son of Mr. And Mrs. R. E. Bunnell was born in Castleton, Stark County, Ill., August 13, 1880.

He moved with his parents to Kearney, Nebr., in 1892 where they resided until they came to Madison County in 1900. They lived on a farm south of Van Meter until his marriage October 17, 1906 to Ethel A. Minteer, of Van Meter.

They resided near DeSoto until 1913 when they moved to their present home west of Earlham.

He has been active in every movement, which seemed to be for the betterment of his community. He was always ready to assist his friends and neighbors if it lay in his power to do so.

He has always held a deep reverence for God and his life has always been an exemplification of the ideals and training of his Mother.

A beautiful Smile in his service,
A beautiful word of cheer,
A beautiful act unselfish,
A beautiful hint, “He’ll hear!”
A beautiful tear symathic,
A beautiful healing of strife,
A beautiful touch of a brother-
The result was a beautiful life!

He leaves to mourn his wife Ethel and children, Pauline, Lucile and Mason. Also, his mother, Mrs. M. H. Bunnell, his brother John C. Bunnell, other relatives and a large circle of friends and neighbors.
