Earl C. Schoonover, Winterset

Graveside services for Earl C. Schoonover,85, Winterset, who died Oct. 18 at his residence, were held Tuesday, Oct. 21 at the Winterset Cemetery with the Rev. John Shaull officiating.

He was born in Webster township on July 25, 1901, the son of Clay and Florence Hamblin Schoonover. He was a retired farmer and married Hazel Pearl Holmes in Winterset on May 23, 1924.

He spent his lifetime in Madison County and lived the past 14 years in Winterset. He was a member of the Methodist religion.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Mrs. (Oren) Helen Peterson of Winterset and Elinor Rankin of Waukee; a brother, Leslie Schoonover of Winterset; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dale Earl Schoonover who died Dec. 17, 1944 in World War II; and two brothers.
