DEATH OF DAN MONK

Dan Monk, long-time resident of Winterset and vicinity, died at his home here Wednesday. He was 69 years of age.

Mr. Monk had spent most of his life as a farmer near Winterset, but for the past 18 months had lived here in town. Nearest surviving relative is his wife.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday from Anderson's home for funerals, and burial will be made in the Worthington cemetery.

DANIEL B. MONK

Daniel Boone Monk, son of Moses and Ellen Monk, was born in Harrison county, Missouri, Sept. 4, 1871 and died at his home in Winterset Jan. 14, 1941 at the age of 69 years, 4 months and 11 days.

He came to Madison county when a young man, where he engaged in farming until his health failed. In October, 1939, he moved to Winterset and resided until his death.

On March 8, 1904 he was united in marriage to Mary A. Ladd. To this union two children were born, both dying in infancy.

He is survived by his devoted wife and two brothers, George Monk of Hatfield, Mo., and Leonard Monk of Kirksville, Mo., several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the Anderson home for funerals, conducted by Rev. Paul Crouse, pastor of the Worthington and West Star churches. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
