Gladys McCrea Funeral Held

Gladys A. McCrea of St. Charles died Tuesday, December 11, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 82. Mrs. McCrea had lived in the St. Charles area most of her life.

Born on August 17, 1897 at Oakland, she was the daughter of Edward E. and Nellie Jones McClure. As a child, her family moved to the St. Charles area where she lived the remainder of her life. She attended Pleasant Valley country school and on December 30, 1915 was united in marriage to James H. McCrea.

Mrs. McCrea was a member of the Broadhorn Baptist Church and was a longtime member of the St. Marys Community Club.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Jones of Dana; a son, Philip H. McCrea of St. Charles; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mabel Minard of Truro. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and three brothers, Frank, Loren and Harley.

Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home in Truro on Friday, December 14, with Rev. Arthur Eady officiating. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
