Lela Ura Wamsley, daughter of Jefferson and Margaret Fowler Wamsley was born January 28, 1877 in Hayworth (Heyworth), Illinois and passed away at Madison Manor, Winterset, Iowa on July 28, 1975.
In 1899 she was married to Fred Brown and to this union were born three children: two daughters, Stella (Mrs. Albin Olson of Earlham) and Cynthia (Mrs. Guy Wright of Largo, Florida); and one son, Ernest of Earlham.
Lela was a long time member of the Earlham United Methodist Church and a member of the Friendly Circle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother and four sisters.
Lela is survived by her daughters, Stella and Cynthia; her son Ernest and by one daughter-in-law, Anna Brown, and by two son-in-laws, Albin Olson and Guy Wright.
She also leaves behind four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and a host of friends who rejoice that she has been called to her heavenly home.
Services were held at the Earlham United Methodist Church on July 30 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Donald Harbour officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. Marlin Brittain. Interment was in the Earlham Cemetery. Evans McKee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
