Earlham News

Fred Brown, practically a life-long resident of Iowa, passed away at the Restorium in West Des Moines, Feb. 19, 1950.

He was born at Hubbard, in 1875, and was married to Lela Wamsley in 1899. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last year and, in spite of his ill health, he enjoyed it very much.

Mr. Brown had served in the employ of the Rock Island railroad for over 35 years and for the greater part of that time had been station agent at Earlham.

Over two years ago he suffered a stroke and had had several recurrences since. Just a short time before his passing, he had been taken to the Restorium, that those caring for him might have a rest, but he continued to grow worse until his death.

He is survived by his widow and three children, Mrs. Stella Lull, Ernest Brown, and Mrs. Cynthia Wright, all of the Earlham community. Also four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Methodist church with the Rev. C. A. Crouse and Rev. S. R. Overholser officiating. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.
