ROBERT O. MCCLURG RITES HELD JULY 20

Funeral services for R. O. McClurg of Earlham, whose death on July 18 was reported in last week's issue of the Madisonian were held July 20 from the Earlham Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. C. A. Crouse. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Mr. McClurg was 64 years of age. He was a long-time resident of the Earlham community, having farmed in Madison township for many years. He was active in community affairs and was an official of the Adams township Mutual Telephone assiciation. Formerly he was a director of the DeSoto Mutual Telephone company and the Des Moines Cooperative Dairy company. He was a member of the Woodman lodge.

He was born Nov. 5, 1884, at Waukee, and his early life was spent in Polk and Guthrie counties. He was married Jan. 22, 1908 to Ethel Hartman who survives.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Lloyd McClurg, and a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Pryor, both of Earlham; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Bachus, Mrs. Leta Sheets and Mrs. Edith Heller; and four grandchildren.

Funeral Was Tuesday for R. O. McClurg

Funeral services were held for Robert O. McClurg, 64, at the Earlham Methodist church Tuesday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. C. A. Crouse was in charge. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Mr. McClurg had been a long-time resident of the Earlham community having farmed in Madison township for many years. He was active in community affairs and served as an official of the Adams Township Mutual telephone association.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Lloyd McClurg, a daughter, Mrs. Ivan Pryor and four grandchildren.

Robert Oliver McClurg was born November 5, 1884 at Waukee, Iowa, and passed away July 18, 1948 at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He attended school in Polk and Guthrie counties.

On January 22, 1908, he was united in marriage to Ethel Hartman at Jefferson, Iowa. To this union were born two children, Darlene Pryor and Lloyd McClurg of Earlham.

He was always in farming and was for a number of years a director of the De Soto Mutual Telephone Company and the Des Moines Co-operative Dairy Company. He was a member of the Woodman Lodge.

In addition to his wife and two children, he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Bachus, Mrs. Leta Sheets, and Mrs. Edith Heller, four grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death and also his father and mother. His mother passed away when he was only a small boy.

Mr. McClurg was very fond of his grandchildren and thoughtful of others in times of their sickness. His neighbors found him helpful when needed.
