DAVID G. JOHNSON

David G. Johnson, son of Barkley and Mary Jane Goodnow Johnson, was born November 27, 1870 in Jefferson county, near Pleasant Plain, Iowa.

One of a family of nine children, he grew to manhood in this vicinity, attending the local schools, and from early childhood was a member of the Friends Meeting.

On October 1, 1896, he was married to Junie E. Jones of Richland, Iowa, and to this happy union five children were born, of whom three survive. These children were: Sylva; Cumine, now Mrs. S. C. Welch; Russell; and twin sons Leevern and Leland, the latter dying in infancy.

In the spring of 1898 he moved his family to Bear Creek community, near Earlham, where he lived the remainder of his life. Most of these years, his home has been maintained at the place near the church, where he passed away on January 26, 1957, having reached the age of 86 years and two months.

Aside from his immediate family, there survive him one brother, Meader Johnson of Wichita, Kansas, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Ingham of Maywood, Illinois, as well as many relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Bear Creek church on Tuesday, January 20, at 2 o’clock. The pastor, Ernest Baiotto, was in charge, assisted by L. Willard Reynolds, pastor at Earlham. Burial was in the Bear Creek cemetery.
