February 1960HAROLD H. BROWN
Harold Harper Brown, son of Mrs. Leola Brown and the late Harper Brown, was born October 26, 1908 in Dubuque, Iowa and passed away at Veterans Hospital, Des Moines, February 29, 1960.
He was graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and was employed by the Midwest Lumber Co. of Dubuque and Oregon, Illinois. He was later made manager of the Lacona Lumber Co. where he was active in community affairs.
There he met and later married the former Ina Swenson of Radcliffe, Iowa on May 25, 1944. He also managed lumber companies at Garrison and at Earlham where for the past ten years he has been an active worker and member of the Methodist church, Lions Club, American Legion and Odd Fellows Lodge.
He served over three years in the U. S. Air force overseas. Surviving besides his wife and two children, Kamela and Barry, are his mother and two sisters, Dorothy Metz and Marjorie Maxwell of Cedar rapids, Iowa.

March 3, 1960Services Held For Harold H. Brown
Harold H. Brown, manager of the Earlham Lumber Co. for the past ten years, died at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines, Monday, February 29. He had been in ill health for the past several months.
Mr. Brown was active in community affairs. He was a member and past president of the Earlham Lions club; a member of the Earlham IOOF; and the Methodist church, in which organization he served on the official board. He was also a member of the American Legion.
His business associates in Earlham extend their sincere sympathy to his wife and children.
Funeral services were held at the Earlham Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Paul Fotsch and Rev. L. Willard Reynolds were in charge.
Members of the American Legion also took part in the service attending in a body and serving as firing squad at the cemetery.
Music was by Mrs. Helen Jackson accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Mont Johnson, both of Winterset.
Casket bearers were L. R. Goeldner, Russell Hoskins, Ernest Lull, Sheldon Strong, Dale Mills and Robert Branam.
Ushers were Eugene Conrad, Don Letz, James Reinert and Claire Gipple. Marie Standing, Emma Severson and Marjorie Smith had charge of the flowers.
Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.
