Lura McClain, Winterset

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 12 at Collins Funeral Home for Lura Fern McClain, who died Feb. 9 at Winterset Care Center North. She was 90 years old.

Born Sept. 2, 1891 in Patterson, she was the daughter of Isaac and Lillie Shepherd McKinney.

She attended Normal Training in Indianola and taught for a time in Runnells elementary schools.

On December 30, 1914, she married Clarence McClain in Patterson. One child, a son, was born to the couple. Mr. McClain died in 1957.

A member of the First Christian Church in Winterset, Mrs. McClain was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, John; brother, Leonard McKinney; and two sisters, Bertha McKinney and Donna Moore.

She is survived by a sister, Janice Pedersen of West Des Moines; one grandchild; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Burial was at Lowman Cemetery, Runnells.
