Native of Ireland, Had Lived In Madison County Half Century
Thomas McCauley, a resident of Madison county for half a century, died Tuesday, June 26 at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. McCauley was a native of Ireland, where he was born in County Donnegal on Oct. 9, 1881, a son of Alexander and Rebecca Montgomery McCauley.
His life was spent in farming. He was a member of the Methodist church.
He was married March 19, 1902 at Winterset to Bessie Clark, who survives him. He also leaves five children, Merl McCauley of Hawthorne, Calif., Garold McCauley of Milo, Donald McCauley of St. Mary's, Mrs. Hazel Leach of St. Mary's and Mrs. Dolly Brommel of St. Mary's. He also leaves 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Dick McCauley of Winterset; and three sisters, Mrs. Zeller Graham and Mrs. Rebecca Frances of Winterset, and Mrs. Elizabeth Krebiel of Chicago.
Funeral services will be held this Friday at 3 p.m. at the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath, assisted by the Rev. Howard Cho of the St. Charles Methodist church. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
