Succumbs at Hospital in Des Moines After Operation for Goiter
Mrs. James McKinney, a resident of the Blair Chapel vicinity for most of her life, died on Monday of last week at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines. She was 67 years of age. Her death followed a goiter operation.
Mrs. McKinney was born June 6, 1874, in Madison county. As a child she attended the Ebenezer school. In November of 1890 she was married to James McKinney. They were the parents of nine children, three of whom preceded the mother in death.
She had been a member of the Lutheran church at Martensdale since 1937.
She is survived by her husband; and six children: Mrs. Mary Brown of Indianola, Mrs. Elizabeth Farr of Dale, Mrs. Anne Anderson and Floyd McKinney of St. Charles, and Sammie McKinney of Grand Island, Neb. She also leaves 19 grandchildren; and three step-children: Mrs. Ella Weil of Phoenix, Ari., John McKinney of Winterset, and E. J. McKinney of Waukee.
Funeral services were held from the St. Charles Methodist church last Thursday, in charge of the Rev. E. W. Mueller of St. Paul's Lutheran church. Burial was made in Blair Chapel cemetery.
