Funeral services for Mrs. Beryl Patterson were held Monday at the Kale Funeral Home at Truro, with Rev. Leonard Root officiating and interment was in Worthing Cemetery.
She entered the Methodist hospital at Des Moines Nov. 28, 1965 after a stroke, and gradually became weaker until death came December 4.
Mrs. Patterson, the daughter of Mattie and Isaac Holmes, early settlers in Ohio township was born in Truro, Iowa on August 23, 1878.
She spent most of her life in Truro. On April 8, 1903, she was married to Wilbert O. Patterson. Four children were joined to this union.
She was a lifetime member of the Truro Congregational Christian church.
Twenty years ago she and her late husband moved to Des Moines. For the last four and a half years she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Ford.
She is survived by her children, Mrs. W. C. Spain of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. E. H. Ford of Des Moines, Donald Patterson of Oskaloosa and Wendell Patterson of Bloomington, Minn.; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Mrs. Beryl Patterson

Those preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Chapman; one brother, Earl Holmes; three half sisters, Mrs. Meda Caskey, Mrs. Jennie Douglas and Nora Holmes; two half-brothers, Will Holmes and Frank Holmes.
Those left to mourn her passing are Zola, Mrs. W. C. Spain of Long Beach, Calif.; Dorthea, Mrs. E. H Ford of Des Moines, Ia.; Donald of Oskaloosa, Ia.; Wendell of Bloomington, Minn.; five grandchildren, Mrs. Marilyn Keene, Richard Patterson, Teresa Patterson, Terry Patterson, and Patricia Patterson, three great grandchildren; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
