Earlham, IowaEthel Hockett Johnson, daughter of Lindly and Olive Hockett, was born in Adair County, Iowa, January 27, 1888, coming with her parents to Earlham when she was two years of age. Her early life was spent here, she removing to Des Moines, Iowa, some eight years ago. She was married to Mr. John Johnson in December 1906. to this union was born one daughter, Olive Francis.
After an illness of three weeks with typhoid Fever, she quietly fell asleep in Jesus, January 6th 1911.
Mrs. Johnson in her early life was a member of the Friend’s Church. Since removing to Des Moines she has affiliated with the United Brethren Church. In her early life Ethel took an active part in Sabbath School, Christian Endeavor and other church work living an exemplary life and gave evidence of her acceptance of God.
Father, mother, husband and daughter, with many other relatives are left to mourn her early departure. While they feel their very great loss they humbly submit to the Divine Will, appreciating her eternal gain.
The funeral services were held on Sunday, Jan. 8, being conducted by Rev. J. W. Stribling, and the last mortal remains of Mrs. Ethel Johnson were tenderly laid away in Earlham Cemetery.

EarlhamMrs. Ethel Hockett Johnson who was born and raised here, but with her parents moved to Des Moines, her father being employed as a motorman, was buried here on Sunday. She was one of the typhoid victims and leaves a husband and one child.
