Tom Weaver Succumbs to Heart Attack or Stroke
Tom P. Weaver, 62-year-old Peru carpenter and painter, died suddenly on the streets in Winterset Monday.
He had come to Winterset to estimate a painting job, and had complained of feeling ill. He was seated in a car parked down town, and fell to the pavement as he started to climb out of the car. Death was due to heart failure or a stroke of apoplexy.
Mr. Weaver had lived all his life in or near Peru. He was born in this county, the son of William and Jane Weaver. He was married to the former Edith Sdnaers (sic) of Osceola. They were the parents of one son, Wayne Weaver, now of Winterset. Mrs. Weaver died nearly 30 years ago.
In addition to his son, he is survived by one granddaughter; two brothers, James Weaver of Peru and Newt Weaver of West Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. James Dragoo of Red Oak, Mrs. James Seifred of Peru, Mrs. Charles Gifford of Peru, and Mrs. Cloe Carlson of Des Moines.
Funeral services were to be held from the Peru Methodist church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial in the Peru cemetery.
_________________________Coordinator's note: Regarding the wife's maiden name, all the letters were there but in the wrong order. It is "Sanders" per their wedding announcement in the Osceola Sentinel, June 29, 1911, Page 1.
