MRS. ALTHA M. REED DIES IN MISSOURI

Long-Time Madison County Resident Was 74 Years of Age

Mrs. Altha M. Reed, a resident of Madison county for most of her life, died Jan. 13 at the Baptist hospital in Springfield, Mo. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Reed was the former Altha Mae Beardlsey, daughter of Noel and Martha Beardsley, and was born Aug. 15, 1871, at Boonsborrough (now Boone). At an early age she moved to Madison county, living here until three years ago when she moved to Buffalo, Mo. to live with a son.

She was married Dec. 27, 1893 to Austin Reed. They were the parents of three sons. The husband and father died in 1918.

She was a member of the Christian church at Peru.

She is survived by her three sons, Frank Reed of Buffalo, Mo., Eddie Reed of Perry, and Robert Reed of Earlham; a step daughter, Mrs. Grant Beem of Minneapolis, Minn; two brothers, Thee and Edd Beardsley of Peru; and fourteen grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 16 from the Jones Funeral home in Buffalo, in charge of the Rev. Leonard Miller, assisted by the Rev. A. L. Campbell of Perry. Burial was made in the Oak Lawn cemetery.
