Ira (Jim) Hayes Lucas, 86, of Garden Grove, formerly of Murray, died August 29, 1996 at his residence. Funeral services were Sept. 3 at the Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Leon. The Rev. Chuck DeVos officiated the services and burial was at the Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Winterset.
He was born May 13, 1910 in Union County to Ralph and Honolulu (LeMaster) Lucas. He married Cecil Hartman on Jan. 27, 1933. He was a farmer and prior to retiring he farmed in the Murray area.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Surviving relatives include one son, Claude Jones and wife Julie of Garden Grove; one step-daughter, Doris Beebe and husband Bruce of Earlham; two sisters, Mrs. C. A. (Daisy) Gridley of Des Moines, and Bonnie Long of Camdenton, Mo.; one brother, Hobart Lucas and wife Jean of Napa, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
