ROBERT BROWN OF WINTERSET PASSES

Pioneer Resident Was Born in Madison County in 1858

Robert F. Brown, a pioneer resident of Madison county, died here last Saturday at the age of 84 years.

Mr. Brown was born in this county on Nov. 1, 1858. He was one of seven children born to George and Rebecca Brown. Most of his life was spent in the Worthington community northwest of Winterset. About 25 years ago he moved into Winterset, and this had since been his home.

He was married to Lizzie Smith on Dec. 1, 1887. They were the parents of three children, all of whom survive their father.

He was a member of the Worthington Methodist church until moving to Winterset, when he transferred his membership to the local Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife; the three children, Mrs. Mary Olson of Des Moines, Mrs. Earl Miller of Dexter, and Frank Brown of Earlham; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Priddy of Orient, and Mrs. Anna Rankin of Draper, S. Dak.; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from Anderson's home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Worthington cemetery.
