LUTHER HUDSON OF WINTERSET IS DEAD

Was One of Early Pioneers, Coming to County in Early "50's"

Luther Hudson, one of the real pioneer residents of this county, died at the Winterset hospital Monday after a brief illness. He had been in failing health for several months. He was 92 years of age.

Mr. Hudson was born Feb. 7, 1850 in Indiana, and came to Madison county with his parents when he was a small child. The family settled in what is now the Worthington neighborhood, when that part of Madison county was raw prairie.

He was reared on the farm, and later engaged in the drug business in Winterset in partnership with his brother, T. J. Hudson for a number of years. Their store was on the north side of the square.

After quitting business, he spent several years on the George Duff farm north of Winterset, and on a farm near Hubbell, Neb. His recent years had been spent in Winterset.

He was married in 1885 to Laura Goshorn. They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive their father. They are: Tom, Charles and Glenn Hudson, all of Hubbell, Neb., Mrs. Iris Sutton of Hubbell and Mrs. Lucille Bozardt of Sterling, Colo.

Funeral arrangements had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday.
