Mrs. Elizabeth Hunter Had Spent Recent Years in Des Moines
Mrs. Elizabeth Hunter, most of whose long life was spent in the Winterset community, died last Saturday, July31, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Pilmer of Des Moines. She was 94 years of age.
Mrs. Hunter was the former Elizabeth McLees, daughter of Anderson and Sarah McLees, and was born near Richmond, O., on March 2, 1854. In April of that same year she came with her parents to Madison County, to become one of the pioneer settlers here.
She was married March 1, 1877, to Thomas B. Hunter. They were the parents of two children, Merle, who died in 1930, and Esther, now Mrs. Pilmer of Des Moines.
In 1884 Mr. And Mrs. Hunter moved from their Lincoln township farm to Winterset, where they lived until Mr. Hunter’s death in 1931. Since then Mrs. Hunter had made her home with her daughter in Des Moines.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from Lilly’s Funeral home in Des Moines and burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
