RALPH "RED" STRAWN, Spencer

Services for Ralph "Red" Strawn, 69, a former St. Charles resident who died at the Spencer, Iowa hospital May 22, 1983, were held May 25 at the Bethany Lutheran Church, Spencer, with the Rev. Kermit Roisen officiating. Burial was at the Riverside Cemetery at Spencer.

The son of Charles and Jessie Martin Strawn, he was born Jan. 17, 1914 at St. Charles. He grew up in the community and graduated from St. Charles High School.

He was married to Dorothy Erbs April 4, 1947 in Jackson, Minn., and the couple made their home in Spencer most of their married life. He was a salesman for American Cyanimid and later worked as assistant manager for the Farmer's Elevator.

Mr. Strawn was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and had been a member of the Spencer Men's Bowling Association for a number of years.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Nola Harper and Ellen Maxwell, both of Stone Mountain, Ga; two grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Strawn of Winterset; brothers, Ronald of Des Moines, John and Wayne of St. Charles, and Dale of Altoona; and sisters, Mrs. Wilmarie McDonald of St. Charles and Mrs. Shirley Nichol of Winterset.
