MRS. ALICE STRAWN Rite This Friday

Funeral services for Mrs. Alice Strawn, long-time Truro resident, who died Monday Nov. 8 at Tipton will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. from the Truro Church of Christ.

Mrs. Strawn was 92 years of age at the time of her death. Recently she had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. William Hutchison of Tipton.

MRS. ALICE STRAWN BURIED LAST FRIDAY

Long-Time Truro Resident Died at Iowa City at Age of 92 Years

Funeral rites for Mrs. Alice Strawn, long-time Truro resident, who died Nov. 8 at the Mercy hospital in Iowa City, were held last Friday at Truro. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.

Mrs. Strawn was 92 years of age at her death. Since 1943 she had been making her home with a daughter, Mrs. W. E. Hutchinson of Tipton. She was a native of Ohio, where she was born at New Philadelphia, on Feb. 12, 1856, the daughter of Henry and Hulda Landis Willick. She was married to John I. Strawn in 1875. They lived near New Cumberland, Ohio, until 1880, when they came to Iowa and settled at Afton, where they lived for many years. In the early 1890’s they returned to Ohio, remaining there until 1894, when they came to Clarke county, Iowa. In 1904 they moved to Truro.

Her husband’s death occurred in 1907. She remained in Truro until failing health made it advisable to go to her daughter at Tipton.

She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Howe of Buffalo, Wyo., Mrs. R. E. Keller of Ridgewood, N. J., and Mrs. Hutchinson of Tipton; three sons, Blaine Strawn of Payette, Ida., Edgar Strawn of Buffalo, Wyo., Charles Strawn of St. Charles; two sisters, Mrs. Phillip Waltz of New Philadelphia, O., and Mrs. E. J. McCartney of Akron, O.; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
