Services for Clarence B. Longenecker, 96, of Winterset, who died at the Bethesda Care Center where he resided, were held at the Collins Funeral Home on Saturday, March 4, with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Earlham Cemetery.
Born in Madison County on Dec. 19, 1892, he was the son of Joseph and Rosa Doney Longenecker. He was married to Caroline Brown on Dec. 24, 1913 at Afton.
A watch and clock repairman, Mr. Longenecker operated his business in Winterset until recent years. He had lived most of his lifetime in Madison County and started in business in 1915. He was a barber for 35 years before beginning his watch repair business.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy D. and husband Claude Peer of Earlham; one grandchild, Stephen J. Peer; and a great-grandchild, Craig Peer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a grandchild, three brothers and two sisters.

WINTERSET, IA. —Clarence B. Longenecker, 96, of Winterset died of a heart ailment Thursday at Bethesda Care Center. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Collins Funeral Home here, and burial will be in the Earlham Cemetery.
Mr. Longnecker, a member of the First United Methodist Church, was a lifelong Madison County resident. He had owned a watch and clock repair shop, still in business, and was a retired barber.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Peer of Earlham; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
