JOHN RYAN Died Here Wednesday

John J. Ryan, well known Madison county farmer, died at the Madison county Memorial hospital, Wednesday morning, October 28, 1959, at the age of 59 years. Mr. Ryan was a life long resident of this county, and had been in poor health for the past six months, having undergone major surgery, at a Des Moines hospital in May. He has been a patient at the local hospital since August.

Born April 13, 1900, he was a son of John and Mary Maher Ryan of Crawford township. His father died when he was young, and he continued to reside on the farm in Crawford township, until his marriage to Miss Marcella (Sally) Cunningham, April 26, 1939 in Winterset. They resided on a farm near his home until ten years ago, when they moved to their present home in Union township, east of Winterset.

He is survived by his wife, and their two children, Michael and Elizabeth at home. He also leaves two sisers and three brothers: Mrs. Nona Cain of Des Moines, Mrs. John (Marie) Dullard of Maxwell; James Ryan of Crawford township, William Ryan of Oskaloosa, and Thomas Ryan of Portland, Oregon.

Mr. Ryan is a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, and his funeral mass will be conducted by the Rev. John Higgins, at 10 o'clock, Friday morning, October 30th, with burial in the Winterset cemetery.

Rosary service for Mr. Ryan will be held at the Richards Funeral home at 8 p.m., Thursday evening.
