William Strable, a life-long resident of the St. Charles community, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 1957, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset, following a heart attack. He was 65 years of age, and had been ill the past two years.
Mr. Strable was born in Jefferson township, Warren county near St. Charles and spent his life there.
Mr. Strable had engaged in farming near St. Charles most of his life, and in recent years had turned to auctioneering. He had become widely known as an auctioneer throughout this area.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Isabel (Banta) Strable; two sons, Paul Strable of St. Charles and Wayne Strable of Seattle, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and three sisters.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the St. Charles Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Joe King, with burial in the Blair Chapel cemetery.
