LeRoy Lemon, Winterset

LeRoy Lemon, 86, of Winterset died of a pulmonary blood clot April 10, 1997 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were April 15 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. Pastor Dwayne Henrichs officiated the services and burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

He was born in Pond Creek, Okla., on Oct. 7, 1910 to Joseph Andrew and Dora Eliza (Smith) Lemon. He married Dorothy Blossom Sheldon on April 5, 1930 in Winterset. He was retired from running an ice service for many years. He was also a farmer and a roofer and had been a resident of Madison County for most of his lifetime.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers; and seven sisters.

Surviving relatives include four sons, Joseph Lemon of Winterset and his wife Faye of Mo., William Lemon and wife Betty of Thayer, James Lemon and wife JoAnn of Des Moines, and John Lemon and wife Janet of Lorimor; one daughter, Dora Hibdon of Winterset; one sister, Edith Joran of Belle Plaine, Kan., 20 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
